Week 16 Corpus Christi, Texas

Mom,

2 hour church was good, it felt a little different. We had some people in our ward that probably bore more than a testimony and didn't need to take so long, but I feel like all that will come with time once people get used to the shortened schedule.
That is sad to hear about Cliff (Elder Goodbaudy's great uncle passed away on January 5, 2019) he is definitely in a much better place though.
We lost power earlier this week, I think I heard that someone was driving and hit a pole, so we didn't have power for part of the night. It wasn't awful though, good thing we've got flashlights.
It was down in the mid 40's earlier this week, but it is starting to warm back up into the 70's.
Yeah time sure is flying by. I was looking and the transfer that I go home is at the beginning of October. So that basically doesn't even count as a month. Time needs to stop going so fast.
I would imagine work has been very quiet. That is good that all is working out with the new job. It really is amazing how God makes everything work.  Teaching is going good. Paige (the girl who wants to get baptized) is doing good. Sounds like we might be baptizing her this weekend, we will see.
Matt is graduating soon!?!? Yeah, if time could slow down that would be nice.
I don't  know about favorite hymn.... there are a lot of good ones.  Also, I did really enjoy doing the 'Come, Follow Me' lesson thing. That was kind of cool, the ward gave Elder Huff and I each a booklet, so I am going along with the weekly topics and writing notes in the booklet. It is pretty interesting. So far though, so good.
Not much new happened this week. Just the weekly grind. Transfer calls are in another 2 weeks so we will see what happens then. I have no clue if I'm staying or not. We will have to wait and see.
I'm hoping all is still going well at home.  Have a great week!

Week 15 Corpus Christi, Texas

Mom,
Christmas was good. Christmas Eve we had 2 dinners and then Christmas Day we had a breakfast and 2 dinners. So much food.

Sounds like Christmas was pretty much the usual for you guys.  Sounds like things have been going as good as they can back at home.

Our final 3 hour church was good. I am curious to see how it will be for the first few weeks trying to adjust to the new schedule and troubleshooting everything. It will definitely feel weird only being in church for 2 hours.

Sounds like the next few days will be fairly calm at home, I guess that's good.

There is a girl we are teaching named Paige and she has said she wants to get baptized so that should be good. Other than that however, we are just trying to talk to anyone that wants to listen to us.

Favorite scripture for the week? Hmmm. Not necessarily a scripture in particular, I have been reading through all the standard works with the institute manuals to get a better understanding of the scriptures, and it has been super insightful.

That is pretty much it for this week. Sorry these are always short, I never know what to talk about.  Anyway, have a great week and a Happy New Year.

Love, Elder Goodbaudy

P.S. Did the present come?

So the lady who brought the gift was in our ward here in Flour Bluff. Her husband is in the Navy and they are being transferred to a different base. However they had some time for the holidays and they are from Hillsboro so they spent the holidays at home. Sister Axtell (the lady who dropped it off) asked if I wanted her to take something back with her and so I decided to do the writing on the towel.

Week 14 Corpus Christi, Texas

Hey Mom,

I am super excited too. We will probably be calling around 3:00 or 3:30 my time, so around 1 your time. We will call you to confirm when we are ready but plan on around 1 your time.

Church was super good. Huff and I bore our testimonies and then we sang as part of the ward choir. We sang Away in a Manger, it sounded fairly good.  Then for the rest of sacramnet meeting (Huff and I took up barely any time) Bishop spoke and he gave such an amazing talk. He talked about Christmas and traditions and about how sometimes we put a lot of focus on the stuff and our scriptures get buried in 'wrapping paper' so to speak. It was an amazing talk.

The party was really good, we got mission T-shirts and we also go to watch the Last Jedi as a mission which was so cool. It was a super good party. We basically played sports all day on Monday and then Tuesday we had a little conference where President Torres talked to us about giving Christ a gift this Christmas of our time and efforts.

Basically Christmas Eve and Christmas day we will be eating food all day, so I am super excited.  That is something I have really come to learn, especially this Christmas. The stuff doesn't matter, what really matters is the family relationships we build and the things that last longer than a few months or years.

This morning we played soccer with some members in our ward, it was super fun. Not much else besides that.

Talk to you Tomorrow.
Merry Christmas!
