Week 13 LaJoya, Texas

Hey Mom,

We also had a little weather fun this week, thunder and lightning on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Can't really think of anything else to say so onto the highlights:

Monday:
We had a zone activity and played capture the flag, it was a long game but our team finally won. Before the game I got to play a little basketball and that was really fun to play because it had been a while.

Tuesday:
We were on the side of the road after we had just talked to a lady on her porch and as we are sitting in the car we saw a mustang go up in the air and fly off the road, we ran over to see if they were okay, it was 2 teenagers and they were both alright. We gave one of them a ride home while the other decided to have his mom pick him up. Then later that night we saw a 15 year old kid who was hitchhiking so we gave him a ride because we didn't have anything else to do.  We had Thunder and lightning during the late afternoon and into the night, we lost power at about 9:40 so we used flashlights until we went to bed.

Wednesday:
We had a big zone meeting with the new stake president and he told us what he wants us to do to help out the wards. Then later in the night there was more thunder and lightning, luckily we didn't lose power again though.

Thursday:
We had spent all day finding less actives who were in our records but nobody knew them, just a lot of driving and asking people who they were. At around 6 we tried knocking kind of this creepy looking house, nobody was home so we explored it a little bit, it was pretty cool. At around 6 we went to the Medina's house and they ended up feeding us teriyaki chicken which was really good.

Friday:
For lunch I had green spaghetti which is super good, it is regular spaghetti but in a green sauce, it has just a little bit of heat to it, delicious. For dinner our boy Eloy invited us over to his house to have some carne asada, it was super good. I accidentally hit a dog in the forehead with an orange, it ran right towards where I was throwing it and it ran right into the orange, the dogs down here are not the brightest.

Saturday:
We had an appointment with the Rodriguez family at 12, we went over there and they asked if we could come back in an hour so we said sure. We decided to go to a corner market to get some lunch (we were in Pueblo de Palmas so we knew it would be super high quality, not)  We go up to the counter and the lady there says that all they have is menudo (for those of you that don't know menudo is a soup and the meat in the soup is cow stomach) I tried a little piece, it is disgusting. Shipley got a whole bowl because when he tried it he didn't think it was that bad, long story short we ended up faking a phone call so he didn't have to keep eating it. Then we decided to go to another restaurant which had just opened and had sold out of everything. So we went next to that to a burger restaurant and had burgers.

Sunday:
Sunday was the usual, church was good, there were 78 people there so it was a little empty. We had dinner with sister Mendoza, the seminary teacher, she got pizza which was pretty nice. That was about it.

Talk to you guys next week

Love,
